Micah’s proudly holding his soccer trophy. His coach called him “smiling Micah” and complemented him on his great defensive move in the last game - kicking the ball between the legs of the opponent. I’m very proud of him. Today in preschool the kids got to stand up and say what they want to be when they grow up, and all the moms were there for the last day of preschool picnic. Micah stood up and said, “I want to be a racer!” Fortunately I had put on his Lighning McQueen shirt this morning, not knowing they were supposed to dress up as what they wanted to be.
On the flip side of the pride comes my frustration when Micah throws tantrums. This evening as we were driving home from pizza dinner, playing in the park and picking out movies from the PX, Micah was wailing because I wasn’t going to let him watch his “show” before bed. After making it clear to him several times, I ignored his bad behavior for a few minutes. At which point Caleb piped up and said, “Cying, cying” and “show” to let me know just what Micah was doing and saying in case I didn’t get it from the screaming in my ear.
Speaking of Caleb, he’s becoming quite the talker. And he’s fearless. At the park tonight, he had almost no problems climbing the ladder and going down the big kid’s slide all by himself. Even the falling off balance every time he slid down seemed to thrill him all the more. “Again, again!”, he’d say excitedly and “help” if he ever needed a steadying hand. Also he calls Micah “Bacah” and “Macah”. It’s adorable
Micah has also progressed in the daring department as he used to be quite the cautious kid. Tonight he climbed up a looped type ladder and walked across the rope/board bridge to the slide. I also noticed how daring he was at Taunus Wunderland when he climbed up one of those dome shaped jungle gyms with ease. It was only when he reached the top that he looked down at me with a “What do I do now, Mom” face.
I love being a mommy to little boys. It’s so much fun!
